External Camera - Quick Start Guide

Hardware Overview

Info
A cable is only required when utilising a solar panel with the rechargeable battery.

Pairing the Camera

To pair a camera onto the control panel, go into the Wireless Sensors section of the configuration.
  1. Put the panel into pairing mode by unlocking the receiver at the top of the page and Start Refresh at the top right of the screen (for more information on accessing this page, please refer to the Control Panel guides)
  2. Connect the battery to the camera and within 5 seconds of connecting the battery, press the tamper switch twice
  3. The camera will beep 3 times confirming it is in pairing mode and will now show in red on the configuration interface
  4. Select the camera and go to the configuration page for the device
  5. Name the camera at the top of the page, scroll to the bottom and set an Area for the device
  6. Press Save at the top right of the page
  7. To complete the pairing process on the camera, press and hold the tamper button for around 3-4 seconds and let go
  8. The camera will beep to confirm and will now be showing as green on the Wireless Sensors page of the panel configuration
Once finished, ensure the receiver is locked again at the top of the page.

Camera Configuration

Configuration Overview

  1. Name/Description - Name of the Camera
  2. Enabling time - Setting a trigger delay to the camera (allowing time for the system to be disarmed)
  3. Maximum Activations - The number of times a camera can be triggered during an arming session (set the slider to the far left for unlimited)
  4. Excludable - Turning this setting on allows the system to be armed if this device is currently open / in fault
  5. Silent Alarm - Send alarm without activating siren(s)
  6. Alarm all day 24H Alarm - The device will be armed all the time, regardless of the current arming state of the system
  7. Verify Mode - Logs the trigger in the Event Log, does not send alarm to webeyeCMS (leaves device working but does not send alarm)
  8. Exclude Tamper - Excludes the tamper on the device
  9. Led - Enables the LED on the front of the camera when triggered (Red LED = PIR detection, Blue LED = Microwave detection)
  10. Siren - Triggers the built-in siren on the camera upon activation
  11. Beep- Enables a beep when videos/snapshots are being requested
  12. Notify Open Zone Voice - Announces open zone through the control panels in-built speaker
  13. PIR Sensitivity - Alter the sensitivity of the PIR sensor (higher = more sensitive)
  14. Pulse Count - Pulse count indicates how much activity (pulses) is required to trigger an alarm. A higher pulse count will minimise false alarms from a device, but will require more movement before triggering
  15. Blind Time - Amount of time it waits before it checks for another trigger (lower = more sensitive)
  16. Window Time - Time required to trigger the number of pulses (lower = more sensitive)
  17. InfoFor further information on sensitivity settings, please see PIR Sensitivity Settings Explained article.
  1. Enable MicroWave - Disabling this option will make the device trigger only from the PIR sensor
  2. Enable Anti Masking - Triggers a masking alarm if the device is covered/masked
  3. Position Detect - Enable the tilt tamper for the device (when enabled, set the threshold for how much movement/shock is required before an event is triggered. Lower = More sensitive, higher = less sensitive)
  4. Enable Input - Enables the input on the wiring block on the inside of the camera.
  5. Photo quality - Alters the compression of the video frames
  6. Day Resolution - Sets the resolution of intrusion footage in the daytime
  7. Night Resolution - Sets the resolution of intrusion footage during the night (when the IR's are active)
  8. Night Threshold - Sets the light sensor level for how much light is required for the IR's to be used (1 is automatic)
  9. Video length (sec) - Length of the video (in seconds) sent on intrusion (default is 5)
  10. Video FPS - How many frames per second on an intrusion video (default is 1)
  11. Exposure - Sets the exposure level for the camera sensor (1 is Automatic)
  12. Exposure Area - Sets the area used for automatic exposure (Full Area uses the full view of the camera, Bottom % uses the bottom part of the video to work out the exposure level to set)
  13. Set WB Mode - Sets the white balance mode for the camera sensor (default is AUTO)
  14. Set Contrast Mode - Alters the contrast depending on the setting of the camera (Mode 1 is default)
  15. Video On Demand (VOD) - Allows for a video on demand to be taken from the webeyeCMS platform
  16. REC Video After MW - The camera will wait until an intrusion is confirmed by the microwave sensor before starting to record a video (The default "No" begind recording as soon as the PIR is triggered however will not send the video until the Microwave has confirmed it)
  17. Radio Power - Sets the power for the RF antenna in the device (if the device is mounted far from the control panel, ensure this is set to maximum)
  18. RF Repeater - Currently not supported. Will allow you to choose which repeater (when paired) the camera will use to communicate back to the panel.
  19. Rechargeable Lithium - This setting needs to be enabled when using the 5v connection on the camera's wiring block
  20. Low Battery Voltage - Setting for when the camera will alert for low battery (external camera default is 2.7V)
  21. Active Areas - Setting the area in which the camera is active in (ensure at least one area is selected)

Standard/Default Configuration

Wiring Block - Inputs/Outputs/Power

The external camera comes with a wiring block that includes an output, 3 inputs and a 5V power connection (allowing for 5V charging via solar panel or USB).

When utilising the 5V connection on the camera, ensure "Rechargeable Lithium" is enabled within the camera's configuration

Installation

There are 2 ways to install the external camera. Either use the provided wedge, or use the mounting thread on the back of the camera along with a Webeye tilting bracket fixed to a wall or magnet.

Camera Wedge

The external camera is supplied with a wedge that can be used to mount the camera at 2.1m (7ft) high. When mounted on a completely vertical surface, this allows for 23m (75ft) detection within the central beam(s) and 17m (55ft) detection distance at a ~90° angle in front of the camera.
Mount the wedge to a wall or post (screws not supplied). The camera can then be hooked onto the wedge and slide it down to lock it in place. Once in place, a locking screw can then be inserted to fix the camera to the wedge.

Tilt Bracket (Wall/Post/Tie wrap)

This bracket can be used as an alternative to the wedge, primarily for mounting the camera higher than 2.1m. Using this bracket, the camera can be mounted at any height (keeping in mind the camera's vertical angle will need to be pointed down to compensate, lowering the overall detection distances). We advise that it be mounted no higher than 3m from the ground using this bracket.

The bracket can be fixed to a wall or post. The side "wings" of the bracket can also be angled, allowing for a corner mount on a wall or post. There is also the option to utilise tie wraps/zip ties, allowing for easy pole mounting.

Tilt Bracket (Magnet)

A mounting magnet can also be used alongside the tilt bracket, allowing the camera to be mounted directly onto magnetic surfaces such as shipping containers/metal sheeting. This is used by taking off the wall fixing part of the tilt bracket and the magnetic mount is screwed in its place as below.
